Bread dough prior to baking
Have you ever wanted to bake your own bread but didn't know where to begin or thought that it was going to be too difficult?
I came upon this recipe that is great for anyone that has never made their own bread. I also like this recipe because it makes to 2 loaves of bread. My daughter loves it so much that she won't eat regular store bought bread anymore. I would love to hear from anyone that tries it or if you have your own recipe to share please do so! 2 cups warm water (110 degrees)
2/3 cup white sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons active dry yeast
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup vegetable oil
6 cups bread flour
1. In a large bowl, dissolve the sugar in warm water, and then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast resembles a creamy foam.
2. Mix salt and oil into the yeast. Mix in flour on cup at a time. Knead dough on a lightly floured surface until smooth. Place in a well oiled bowl, and turn dough to coat. Cover with a damp cloth. Allow to rise until doubled in bulk, about 1 hour.
Note: I mix my flour one cup at a time in my mixer using the dough attachment. Once I mix all my flour I then take it out of the mixer and knead it by hand.
3. Punch dough down. Knead for a few minutes and divide in half. Shape into loaves, and place dough into two well oiled 9x5 inch loaf pans. Allow to rice for 30 minutes or until dough has risen 1 inch above pans.
4. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
